Grenada is the most southerly of the Windward Islands and enjoys year round sunshine with the temperature mainly between 28°C/82°F in the daytime. It rarely goes above 86°F and at night, rarely drops below 75°F. The hottest months are generally August and September. Trade Winds bring Nature's ''air conditioning'' all year round bringing cooling breezes and making an overall comfortable temperature.

Population - Approximately 100,000

Time Zone - GMT minus 4 hours (Winter) 5 hours (Summer). Grenada is the same as Eastern Daylight time in the USA

Temperature/Climate - The whole year round is an average temperature of 28 - 30°C (83 - 90°F). The dry season is between December and May and the rainy season from June to mid December. During the rainy season the showers can be heavy but are normally sporadic. The dry season is not without the odd heavy downfall of rain, but it is most common at night.

Currency - Grenada uses the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (exchange rate approximately 4.5 EC$ to £1.00 or 2.7EC$ to the U.S. Dollar (note the EC$ is fixed agaianst the US$). US$s can also be used in most shops and restaurants where change will be given in E.C. Dollars. Banks will exchange US$, GBPs or Travellers Cheques

Airport - Point Saline International. Check in times are at least two hours prior to international flights. Departure tax is EC$50.00 (US$20) - please remenber to reserve this sum at the end of your stay or you may be refused permission to leave!

Electric Current - The island runs 220/240 volts, 50 Hz AC, same as in the UK. Most plug sockets are of the standard three pin type. For US Guests visiting Treetops, transformers are available on request but please make sure that your appliances will not be affected by running at 50 Hz instead of 60Hz. Treetops is an Eco Villa and many of our lights run on solar power.

Transport- Local buses travel all over the island very regularly. The cost per journey from Sauteurs to St George's is around EC$ 7.00. The average bus journey is around EC$2-3. There is a limeted service after midday on Saturday and no bus service on Sundays or after 7pm in many areas. Taxis are available average cost 15 - 30 US$. Car hire can be arranged through numerous companies - prior to your arrival should you wish. You will need to be over 21 years and bring with you a full driving licence. You will be required to obtain a temporary Grenadian license, cost EC$ 30.00. Car hire is approximately US$ 50-60.00 per day.

Communications - Local telephone calls made from Treetops are free of charge. A local Grenada Digicel "pay-as-you-go" mobile phone is available to guests to rent for a small fee - please request when booking if required. You will be emailed with the number to pass to friends and family before you arrive in Grenada.

Internet - There are numerous Internet Cafes all around the island some of which are in the most unusual settings. Many free WiFi locations exist and, at Treetops, a secure WiFi service is freely available for guests using their own Laptops or PDAs anywhere in and around the Guest Suites, Verandas, Sun Deck and Gardens - even in the Jacuzzi for the brave!

What to Wear - Cool summer clothing is perfect. Sportswear for the daytime. At night most hotels and restaurants require smart casual dress for both men and women. At Treetops casual is the word...you would not need more that shorts/tops/swimwear etc. In the Towns it's considered respectful to be relatively 'covered up' - particularly the ladies.

Health - St. George's is the nearest hospital for emergencies. Dentists, Doctors and chemists are readily available. Please ensure adequate travel insurance.
